In order to ensure the safe and stable operation of the motor train unit, trouble of moving EMU diction system (TEDS) can automatically collects and analyzes the images of the running gear, brake parts, undercarriage suspension parts, coupler connection, skirting boards on both sides of the train, bogie, wheel tread, flange, rims etc. of the motor train unit by installing linear array and area array combined camera. It can give an alarm of different degrees when the images are unusual. At the same time, with the help of images transmission and processing technologies, it can timely transfer the unusual high-capacity images and alarms to the alarming terminals local or remote trains with a little occupation of network bandwidth. People only need to affirm the alarming information, which greatly reduces the number of the dynamic working staff and time and improve the safety level of the operation of motor train units.

 

    At present, TEDS has already passed the technical reviews of Wuhan Railway Bureau (technical review of WRB, document No.: [2010]003) and Shenyang Railway Bureau (technical review of SRB, document No.: [2011]014) and is listed as one of the managements of safety and risk of Railway Bureau. 1) This system can automatically analyze and compare the images and gives alarms by making degrees of the unusual images.

2) The images of the parts are clearer. This system adopts the cameras with higher frame rate and single-point distinguishability. The cameras on the bottoms can see the hexagonal directions of nuts on the baseboard of the trains clearly and make judgments on the unusual conditions of the nuts and bolts.

3) The system has function of both-way train connection.
4) The system has function of automatic identification of train number image. It can identify the train number automatically and makes matchup of the train images and train numbers. Then it can realize the automatic comparisons of the images of the same train and make degrees of the unusual conditions.
5) The system has the sub-system of motor train information management and data change ports of wheel set trouble moving detection system.
6) The system adopts the technologies of images transport and accelerating processing and can realize the timely transport and review of the images of large-capacity with the low speed network bandwidth.
7) The system realized a complete downward compatibility on design and can make a comprehensive and compatible detection of way-train, freight car and locomotive.
8) This system adopts B/S framework. The collected images and unusual information can be timely reviewed on the internet by overhauling and other relating departments on the motor train overhauling center.
9) The system has the function of analysis and B/S framework. All relating management departments can analyze and make statistics on the collected data timely and give suggestions on the decisions of overhauling of the train.

 

TEDS can be divided into two types according to its application environment and functions: TEDS-H and TEDS-L.

    TEDS-H is mainly used for the online parts detection of long routing and pull back trains and is installed in the front of pulling in station, which is helpful for the discovery and treatment of troubles in advance. The system fits the trains with the speed of 5-200 kilometers/h.  This system has already installed in Shenyang Railway Bureau.

 

    TEDS-L is mainly used for the comparison of the parts conditions when pulling out and the standard parts conditions of the trains, which can improve the quality of trains pulling out. The system adopts high definition color cameras and the parts conditions are clearer. It adopts the combination style of linear array and area array and has more complete functions and it can make a comprehensive and multi-angle detection of the bottoms, skirt board and wheel tread of the trains. It fits the trains with the speed of 5-20 kilometers/h, especially for the detection of wheel tread and rims, it can completely remove the blind areas of visual check after it pulls in and improve the discovery ability of troubles. The system has already been put in use in Wuhan Railway Bureau.
